Bake Battle Roll CIC is led by James and Rachel, two passionate, neurodiverse individuals with lived experience of the challenges many of our visitors face. Their personal insight, combined with professional backgrounds, drives the inclusive, supportive ethos at the heart of everything we do. James has years of experience as a Mental Health Worker, supporting people facing anxiety, depression, and social withdrawal. His understanding of emotional wellbeing, communication challenges, and the value of structured support has directly informed the calming, welcoming environment we offer.
Rachel brings her experience as a Nursery Nurse, with deep expertise in developmental needs, emotional regulation, and the power of play as a tool for connection and growth. Her creativity and nurturing approach shape the way we design activities that are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to individual needs.
Bake Battle Roll was originally founded in 2019 as a for-profit partnership, born out of a shared love for board games and a desire to create a space where everyone feels welcome. As the café grew, it naturally attracted people who were socially isolated, neurodivergent, or struggling with their mental health and it became clear that its impact extended far beyond just entertainment. Recognising the potential to do more.
James and Rachel transitioned the business into a Community Interest Company (CIC) in May 2025. This change allows Bake Battle Roll CIC to focus more fully on its mission: supporting people with neurodiversity, low mental health, or social isolation through meaningful connection, structured play, and community-driven activities.
